Copernicus And The Pencil

Summarize each of the inventions you studied this week and how they impacted history. Also, explain the most interesting thing you learned this week, and why.

Copernicus grew up during the renaissance,but was not directly inspired by renaissance culture. He gained an interest in science and astronomy through his schooling. He had diverse talent, but he specialized in astronomy. Copernicus’ work spread slowly, facing some resistance from church. The insights of Copernicus laid the groundwork for the scientific revolution.

The Pencil, The reformation in the 1500s led to European conflict pencils were invented shortly after a graphite mine was discovered in England(1500). They are a cheap way to write and erase. Artists favored them, and England gained a world monopoly. Their monopoly ended by 1800, and graphite production helped Bessemer become famous.
